Book Cover Design
Overview
This collection showcases my approach to book cover design across fiction, nonfiction, and poetry, with an emphasis on bold, thoughtful concepts, strong typography, and clear visual communication.
My experience spans cover design, illustration, interior layout, and print production for Canadian publishers and literary publications. From initial concept development through final production, I approach each book as a complete visual object, balancing the needs of the story, publisher, audience, and physical format.
The Six at Sixty collection was recognized with a Redgee Award for Best in Category, Print Media (Atlantic Provinces) in 2015.

Key design decisions
-
Each book was designed with its audience, content, and publishing context in mind, balancing a distinctive visual concept with the practical demands of the marketplace.
-
Typography and composition were developed to read instantly on the shelf and as small thumbnails, without relying on visual noise.
-
The interiors were built around hierarchy, rhythm, and readability, supporting the pace of the text while maintaining a clean, minimal aesthetic.
-
From prepress details to final exports, the work was developed with print constraints in mind so the final books matched the intent of the design.
Outcome
A diverse body of book covers and publication work that balances bold, minimal design with strong typography, thoughtful visual concepts, and production-ready execution, including an award-recognized collection.
